Hi, I’m Christine Maentz, a.k.a. Ms.Tickle, and I’m a children’s entertainer serving Knoxville and the surrounding areas.
I started entertaining kids late in life. In my mid-fifties, I found a passion for face painting and was happy to realize that there was no age limit to excel in this industry. What’s ironic is that I didn’t realize this was something I would enjoy so much!
Happily married and “Grandma” to 12 of the most special kids I know. We have a very busy life being active members of our Church. In 2016 my husband was ordained a Permanent Deacon after almost 5 years of study. I’m so very proud of him!
My hobby career began when our church picnic committee was searching for an affordable face painter for our annual picnic. No one volunteered for the job and I truly felt this had to be available to our kids, regardless of the skill levels. With minimal artistic talents, my only experience was simple doodling during my high school years! But at least it was something!
I started with an inexpensive but professional starter kit which allowed me to experiment with various techniques. I fell in love immediately with this form of art! Painting itself was a blast but the most pleasure came from seeing the joy and amazement in the eyes of the little children I painted. And I wasn’t even all that good at it!
Improving and adding skills
I then took up balloon twisting and puppetry and thne expanded my services to kids shows, which I’ve grown very passionate about.
My husband & I semi-retired a few years ago which allows me to dedicate more time to making kids smile… whether it be with face painting, balloons or Ms. Tickle’s fun magic show!
“CASA volunteers are everyday citizens that judges appoint to advocate for the safety and well-being of children who have been removed from their homes due to parental abuse and neglect. They stand up for these children and change their lives.”
Knoxville’s only “Balloon Pop Artist” looks forward to entertaining your little guests and creating lasting fun memories for all!
